Men’s Process Groups
Our society frequently does a great disservice to men.
Teaching them that they must be strong, disallowing the weakness that every human sometimes experiences. Teaching them that they must be express emotions, yet punishing them when they do.
There are myriad conflicting messages that men receive, on top of pressures and experiences unique to men.
Many men report that they were taught that the only two acceptable emotions for them are happiness and anger. Yet, as human beings, men, just like women, experience a full range of emotions. They just aren’t safe to express them in most spaces.
In the men’s process groups at Petrichor Counseling, LLC, men can learn to trust and connect with other men in a space that is supportive of their emotional experiences.
Men can talk about men’s issues beyond the limiting stereotypical conversations. Sharing and learning from each other’s experiences can help you understand that you are not alone, while learning new sets of skills for experiencing, expressing, and resolving emotions appropriately under the facilitation of two skilled therapists.
Facilitated by group specialist Jennifer Hama, LPC, CPCS, and trauma/sex therapist Mari I. Mars, MS, LPC, NCC, this group is an open format, allowing individuals to join after the group has formally formed. An intake may be required.
