The way we move through the world has a lot to do with who we are and who we’re evolving to be. However, our past experiences also heavily contribute to our decision making and how those choices influence our behavior.
This can be apparent in both children and adults. Although the way past experiences and thoughts are displayed can look very different between age groups. For children and adolescents challenges with expressing emotions in a healthy way often come out as anger, shut down, low confidence, and attention seeking behavior.
How I Work with You
I work with my clients at their pace to discover these challenges, explore various origins/triggers at a comfortable pace, and assist them in creating tools to evolve those behaviors into healthy relationships and self confidence. I strongly believe that representation matters and equitable mental health is necessary. I advocate for accessible and equitable mental health for people of color and incorporate this into my practice. Cookie cutter therapy is not for me, or for you! I ensure that my therapy approach is created for clients based on their individual experiences.
I strongly believe in creating safe spaces where vulnerability is not only respected but acknowledged. I aim to help you discover all of the wonderful pieces of who you are while evolving into the person you want to be.
With years of experience in trauma informed therapy and resources, let’s work together to transition from hurtful pasts into a future of healing.
I attended Indiana University where I received my Bachelors in Psychology with a Concentration in Spanish. In addition to my studies, I also worked as a Research Assistant in addictions for the Biobehavioral Lab with the School of Psychological and Brain Sciences. Post grad I worked in both inpatient and outpatient facilities for mental health and addiction management.
I extended my education at Indiana University with my Masters in Counseling and Counselor Education where I began my career working in school counseling and school based mental health therapy. For the past several years I have worked as a School Based Mental Health Therapist, specializing in care for ages K-12.I have also worked in community and home based therapy in addition to the healthcare setting. I have worked heavily with families to provide trauma informed therapy and interventions surrounding social and emotional learning, anger management, hyperactive behaviors, and social anxiety. I have spent years working in trauma informed care for and is an advocate for accessible mental health for people of color and underrepresented communities.
My experience working with adults, adolescents, children, and school leaders has given me a unique perspective in working with clients throughout the lifespan. No matter where you are presently, I would love to work with you as you continue progressing into the life you want to live.
